Tyler A. Gonzalez, MD, MBA, is a fellowship-trained and board certified orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon at Prisma Health Orthopedics in Columbia. After completing his bachelor's degree at the University of California, Berkeley, he received a Master of Business Administration and his MD from UCLA in Los Angeles. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston and his fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gonzalez has focused on improving patient care, medical education and research. His interest and passion in translational, clinical and biomechanical research has prompted over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and presentations. He routinely lectures at regional, national and international forums on foot and ankle topics and on improving value-based patient care.

Dr. Gonzalez is an active reviewer for publications, including Foot and Ankle International, Foot and Ankle Orthopaedics, and Foot and Ankle Specialist. He is a member of various foot and ankle surgery societies and is president and co-founder of Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Inc., a collaboration of foot and ankle surgeons to improve the delivery of healthcare, innovate on current surgical technologies and advance overall patient care.

Dr. Armstrong is Distinguished Professor of Surgery and Neurological Surgery at the University of Southern California. Dr. Armstrong holds a Master of Science in Tissue Repair and Wound Healing from the University of Wales College of Medicine and a PhD from the University of Manchester College of Medicine, where he was appointed Visiting Professor of Medicine. He is founder and co- Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA).

Dr. Armstrong has produced more than 715 peer-reviewed research papers in dozens of scholarly medical journals as well as over 120 books or book chapters. He is founding co- Editor of the American Diabetes Association’s Clinical Care of the Diabetic Foot, now entering its fourth edition.

Armstrong is Director of USC’s National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Center to Stream Healthcare in Place (C2SHiP.org) which places him at the nexus of the merger of consumer electronics, wearables and medical devices in an effort to maximize hospital-free and activity-rich days.

Dr. Armstrong was selected as one of the first six International Wound Care Ambassadors and is the recipient of numerous awards and degrees by universities and international medical organizations including the inaugural Georgetown Distinguished Award for Diabetic Limb Salvage. In 2008, he was the 25th and youngest-ever member elected into the Podiatric Medicine Hall of Fame. He was the first surgeon to be appointed University Distinguished Outreach Professor at the University of Arizona. He was the first podiatric surgeon to become a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery and the first US podiatric surgeon named fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow. He is the 2010 and youngest ever recipient of the ADA’s Roger Pecoraro Award, the highest award given in the field.

Dr. Armstrong is past Chair of Scientific Sessions for the ADA’s Foot Care Council, and a past member of the National Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association. He sits on the Infectious Disease Society of America’s (IDSA) Diabetic Foot Infection Advisory Committee and is the US appointed delegate to the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot. Dr. Armstrong is the founder and co-chair of the International Diabetic Foot Conference (DF-Con), the largest annual international symposium on the diabetic foot in the world. He is also the Founding President of the American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS), a medical and surgical society dedicated to building interdisciplinary teams to eliminate preventable amputation in the USA and worldwide.

Laura Shin, DPM, PhD, is a reconstructive surgeon and physician-scientist who specializes in podiatry, including foot and ankle deformities, Charcot neuroarthropathy, limb salvage, wound care and diabetic feet and ankles.

Her interest in stem cell biology and the potential for using stem cells to repair diabetic wounds, along with her passion for patient care, led her to pursue a dual PhD and DPM degree. In her clinical and research pursuits,

Dr. Shin is dedicated to preserving and restoring mobility, which she believes is crucial to quality of life. She has a special interest in patients with diabetes and other high-risk conditions.

Dr Peter Lam is a nationally and internationally recognised orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon. He has particular expertise in sports related injuries of the foot and ankle including the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for the correction of bunions and certain forefoot deformities and arthritis of the big toe metatarsophalangeal joint. He also offers ligament reconstruction, realignment surgery and treatment of ankle/hindfoot arthritis.

I am a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot and Ankle Surgery. I completed my training in South East London and currently on an international specialist minimally invasive surgery and arthroscopy educational fellowship in Sydney. I have a strong research background with over 80 publications and 100 international and national presentations spanning research projects in trauma & orthopaedic surgery, anatomy, medical education and mobile health. Over the course of my career, I have secured grant awards of over £50,000 demonstrating my ability to secure funding for research projects. Dr. Brian Burgess is a board-certified podiatric surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle surgery. His treatment philosophy stresses conservative management and an evidence-based approach to surgical intervention when indicated. Prior to surgery, Dr. Burgess uses a variety of conservative techniques including injections, bracing, orthotics and physical therapy. With an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques, he frequently returns his patients to an active lifestyle in a quick and safe manner. Dr. Burgess is well-trained in all aspects of the foot and ankle and has a special interest in minimally invasive bunion correction, minimally invasive fracture repair, Achilles tendon disorders, acute and chronic ankle sprains, ankle arthroscopy, heel pain treatment, orthotic therapy, sports-related injuries and trauma/fractures of the foot and ankle.
